Qpd

Another interesting discovery of Japanese Math Rock, and this band is called Qpd.
These Japanese play a fun sound, mixing catchy indie tunes with the complexity of math rock, somewhat resembles Maps & Atlases style.
They have three EP and all available for free on the internet, which I will now make available to you all.

Silian Rail - And I You, To Pieces (2008)

silianrail_andiyoutopieces
Imagine a young couple who were friends, split up to 13 years and then they meet again years later in Chicago and inspired with the reunion and the experience gained in those years away from one another, come together and form a duo Silian Rail.

Robin
the girl plays guitar and Eric plays drums, the band despite being in the post-rock style, the drums has strong features of the Math Rock, the Guitarist dare also more complex rhythms with their allies the melody of the post-rock.
It may be that the band is not one of the best of two genres, but the story of the couple makes it worth knowing this great duo who play good music :3

PS
: Have you stopped to realize that the pairs give the Math Rock more certain that a full band? I have this impression
=P

rega - SOLT&PLUM (2012)

rega_solt&plum

This year
has been surprising me ever more in the music, the rega new album? As I was not aware of it before?
Rega
is already known here on this blog for his dance music made by catchy guitars, bass groove and a jazz drummer with their technical Math Rock and a progression in their melodies.

This new album they’re a little more melodic and much more drawn to jazz, but still is a great band of Math Rock.

tricot - School Children and The Cosmo (2012)

tricot_schoolchildrenandthecosmo
After the

TheMathRockBlog showed a video of an indie/alternative/math rock crazy Japanese band, I wanted to know more about the band and I found this mini-album which was released this year.

It is
as described above, is a band Indie/Alternative with influences of Math Rock and strong melodies, and the band is formed by three women (two guitarists and a bass) and a man who is the drummer that the harmony between the instruments.

And
increasingly the alternative scene showing that Japanese will not live only j-rock/j-pop, which is great because then we will have bands like this to enjoy.

Craw - Bodies for Strontium 90 (2002)

craw_bodiesforstrontium90

Craw is an independent band and superb quality, but that is not as well known unfortunately.
They make a solid sound, powerful and concrete post-hardcore style with massive bass, and the complexity of the riffs of the guitars, so they are linked to Math Rock. They closely resemble the band Helmet and Mastodon fused with generous pinches of Math Rock.

It is a pity that the band is not as well known as it deserves all the recognition they can.

Drive Like Jehu - Drive Like Jehu (1991)

drivelikejehu

If today we are pleased to hear bands like Hella or Lightning Bolt mixing complexity and noise (Math Rock and Noise Rock in this case), it was thanks to Drive Like Jehu.

They are
a band of Post-Hardcore/Emo and were important for these styles with their emotinal screaming and their aggressive and noisy guitars. But they also have a progressive and complexity in their melodies, coupled with the noise so loud guitars and bass groove highly.

Therefore
, although not belonging directly to the movement Math Rock, they helped the connection between Math Rock and Noise Rock, and with it the emergence of several important bands.
It’s a marvelous debut for this cold and rainy Sunday =D
